About XomTour
Born to Rewrite
the Story of Travel
A social initiative rooted in Đà Nẵng, Vietnam — turning travel into a force that heals communities, ecosystems, and cultures rather than depleting them.
Our Story
Why XomTour Exists
Mass tourism has lost its way. While it generates billions in revenue globally, the benefits flow mostly to large corporations — leaving local communities with the costs: cultural erosion, environmental degradation, and growing inequality.
Take Barcelona. Over 32 million visitors annually — nearly 20 times the local population — have transformed vibrant neighbourhoods into tourist zones. Traditional businesses replaced by souvenir shops. Residents priced out of their own city. Even the last bookshop in La Barceloneta shut down.
Vietnam faces the same trajectory. In Hội An alone, local families who lived on the same streets for generations are quietly leaving — the economics of touristification making it impossible to stay. XomTour was born in Đà Nẵng to offer a different path — one rooted in the communities, ecosystems, and traditions that make Vietnam extraordinary.
First Principle
Tourism Should Restore,
Not Deplete
Every journey, every program, every partnership is designed around one question: does this leave the place — and the people — better than we found them?
Community Benefit
Revenue flows directly to local partners. Communities decide how their culture is shared — on their own terms.
Ecological Restoration
We design programs that actively heal ecosystems — not simply minimise damage or plant a token tree.
Meaningful Exchange
Travelers leave transformed, not just entertained. Hosts share wisdom, not a performance crafted for cameras.
The Manifesto
The Broken Way &
The New Story
The Broken Way
- Extraction
Natural and cultural resources consumed until depleted. The destination is a product to be sold.
- Leakage
Up to 80% of tourist revenue leaves local economies — absorbed by international chains and platforms.
- Performance
Culture reduced to spectacle. Communities become actors in their own caricature for camera-holding guests.
- Standardisation
Every destination made to look the same. Authenticity traded for convenience and five-star comfort.
- Passive Consumption
Travelers move through places like scrolling a content feed — seen, photographed, but never truly understood.
The New Story
- Restoration
Ecosystems, cultures, and communities actively strengthened by each visit. The destination thrives.
- Direct Benefit
Revenue stays local. Community partners set the terms of engagement — not platforms, not outsiders.
- Celebration
Culture shared on its own terms — with pride, full context, and meaning intact.
- Local Wisdom
Indigenous knowledge and community expertise lead the design of every experience from the ground up.
- Active Participation
Travelers become learners, collaborators, and advocates — carrying changed perspectives home.
"We choose the New Story — in every program we design, every partner we choose, every traveler we welcome."
